From the Miami area, Haulover Inlet provides the primary access point to the Atlantic for anglers heading north. The inlet sits roughly twenty minutes from downtown Miami by boat, threading through the Intracoastal Waterway past several productive bridges and seawalls where snook, sheepshead, and mangrove snapper stack up.

Offshore fishing from Miami is legendary. The Gulf Stream runs close to shore along this coastline, bringing blue-water species within half-day range. Sailfish migrate through from November through April, while mahi-mahi, wahoo, and tuna show up on current edges and weed lines.
